Volunteers needed:
SNAP Box Distribution
Monday, Wednesday, and Friday

We are currently distributing SNAP boxes to support those affected by the government shutdown.

Please note the following about SNAP boxes:

They are available on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday 4-5PM
Each household may receive one box per week
Only 50 boxes are available each distribution day due to limited resources

To receive a SNAP box, you will need to provide:

Proof of active SNAP benefits
Photo ID/residency in Lowndes County

It’s nearly the festive time of year when we once again hear the familiar ringing of the Salvation Army bells. This annual appeal is especially important—the funds raised will be the organization’s primary resource to assist those in need throughout 2026.

This year has been particularly difficult for the Salvation Army and for the entire Columbus community. The sudden passing of their spiritual leader, Jason Houser, at such a young age has been heartbreaking. Yet, in the spirit of carrying his legacy forward, they are seeking volunteers to help turn this season of sadness into a season of hope and service.
